For some reason I've always liked shrikes. They're such tidy little birds with sharply delineated markings. Laguna Atascosa NWR had them in abundance, sitting on yuccas, waiting to swoop down onto some bit of prey. It's amazing that the place isn't depopulated of insects and small mammals (lots of other predatory birds).
